Laminate facts – Like all wood based products, laminate expands and contracts depending on temperature. It needs an expansion gap leaving around the perimeter of a room which is usually covered by beading in a similar colour.
If you want a cleaner finish, some people remove the skirting and refit them once the floor is down – a simple job for an experienced joiner but it can be a DIY headache !
Laminate facts – it comes in all kinds of qualities, The cheaper ones are usually made from MDF and can blister & peel on the joints after a few years. The premier ranges are made from HDF ( High density Fibreboard) and last much longer.
Most laminate flooring does have a problem with water. In the event of a major spillage or flood, many laminates warp and become unusable. There are some that have water resistant properties.
